Gulmarg-Pahalgam-Katra TourDestination : Srinagar - Gulmarg - Pahalgam - Katra DAY 01 : Arrive Srinagar Welcome to your 'Majestic Kashmir' tour! On arrival at Srinagar (on your own), you will be met at Srinagar Airport and get transferred to your houseboat in Srinagar. Check into your houseboat. In the evening enjoy a romantic 'shikara ride' on the Dal Lake. Overnight stay at the houseboat. Day 02 : Srinagar | Day Excursion to Gulmarg (52 kms / approx. 2 hour drive) This morning proceed to Gulmarg driving past willow trees, fast flowing streams and lush green meadows. Gulmarg - the 'meadow of flowers' is an apt term for this idyllic flower-laden meadow offering a spectacular view of towering snow capped peaks covered with dense forests of tall conifers and gigantic fir and pine trees. Stroll leisurely or take pony rides (on direct payment) across the green meadow to one of the world's highest Golf Course. A must is a fun-filled ride in the newly introduced Gondola Lift. Return to Srinagar in the evening. Overnight stay at the houseboat. Day 03 : Gulmarg This morning proceed on a city tour visiting the Shankracharya temple situated atop a hill, the famous Mughal gardens - Chesmashahi, Nishant & Shalimar (Closed on Friday). These gardens were Mughal Emperors' concept of Paradise and today these are popular picnic spots. Also visit a local Handicrafts shop where you can purchase local hand crafted items - shawls, jackets, bed covers, paper mache, carpets & much more! The rest of the evening is at leisure to leisurely stroll alongside the Dal Lake or explore the local markets or watch the romantic shikaras glide. Over night at the hotel. Day 04 : In Srinagar Day Excursion to Sonamarg (90 kms / approx. 3 hour drive) Today you embark on a full day excursion to the picturesque 'meadow of gold', Sonamarg. The fast flowing Sindh River makes it popular for trout and mahseer fishing in summer. You can opt for a pony ride to one of the glaciers for some fun in snow and ice (on direct payment basis). Return to your houseboat in the evening. Overnight stay at the hotel. Note : The vehicle will drop and pick you up at Sonamarg car stand. To reach the glaciers, you can hire ponies on direct payment basis. Day 05 : Srinagar to Pahalgam (87 kms / approx. 3 ½ hour drive) Today depart for Pahalgam the 'valley of shepherds' which is situated at the confluence of the streams flowing from river Lidder and Sheshnag Lake. En route visit the Awantipura ruins, an 1100 year old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and built by King Awantivarman. On arrival into Pahalgam, check into hotel and enjoy the surrounding beauty. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 06 : On to Katra (300 kms / approx 9 hour drive) Early morning depart for Katra. On arrival into Katra, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is at leisure or stroll in the local market. Overnight stay at the hotel. Day 07 : In Katra | Trek to Mata Vaishnodevi - approx. 14 kms one way As per your own preferred time, proceed to Banganga from where you will trek up the Mata Vaishnodevi Temple. Every day of the year, a mass of humanity surges up steep pathways that cut across the hillside for mile after mile. Popular belief holds that anybody who walks the Himalayan trail to her abode to ask for boon rarely goes back disappointed. There are many who journey here year after year to pay obeisance regardless of their faith or belief, creed or class, caste or religion, for Mata Vaishnodevi transcends all such barriers. Return to your hotel after Darshan. Overnight stay at the hotel. Note : Those who may find it physically difficult to trek can opt for pony or dholi (on direct payment) or are short of time, a quick return trip to Mata Vaishnodevi temple can also be arranged by helicopter. Priority darshan can also be arranged which is applicable only with a return helicopter trip. Please contact our sales person in advance who would be pleased to assist you. Helicopter booking is also managed by our company. Day 08 : On to Jammu (52 kms / approx. 1 ½ hour drive) | Return home with happy memories The morning is at leisure. Today bid farewell to your 'Majestic Kashmir' tour, as you will get transferred to Jammu airport or Jammu railway station for your onward journey.
