As a land of quest and achievement, it had distinction of being the land where the most important of the Indian Epic ` Mahabharata ' was written. The source of the two most sacred Indian Rivers - ` THE GANGES ' and ` THE YAMUNA ' is from the glaciers of Garhwal. For ever Garhwal was in the soul and the heart of India, yet for ages it remained blissfully inaccessible to scores of its admirers and seekers. It was a revered expression for a stretch of land dotted with places of pilgrimage.
