Indrahar Pass Trek

This trek from Mcleodganj to Chamba offers one the opportunity to have a close look at the Pir Panjal and Dhaula Dhar mountain ranges. A trek of moderate difficulty the path tread takes you through some dense Deodar & Rhododendron forests, one also comes on to the trail of the ancient Gaadi Shepherds who take their frock from the Chamba Valley to the glades of Lahul & Spiti. The highlight of the trek being the view from the Indrahar pass from where the Pir Panjal Range makes an imposing backdrop in the north while to the south the plains can be see till the far horizon. Also can be seen is the Mani Mahesh Kailash to the east.
Destination: Delhi-Mcleodganj-Triund-Lahesh Cave-Indrahar Pass- Chatru Parao- Kuarsi – Machetar-Chamba-Delhi
Duration: 9 nights/10 days
Day 1: Delhi
Arrive Delhi and later transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Delhi-Mcleodganj
Early morning drive by car/train to Mcleodganj. Day for rest.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 3: Mcleodganj
After breakfast take on a city tour. Rest of the day free for leisure activities.
Overnight in hotel.
Day 4: Mcleodganj-Triund (2994 mts/9818 ft.) 10 kms/3-4 hrs
After an early breakfast, your trek begins towards Triund passing through Dhramkot. The trail to Triund is generally gentle except last few kms.

Day 5: Triund–Lahesh Cave (3598 mts/11800 ft) 9 kms/ 3-4 hrs
This day the trail follows the ridge behind the prayer flags above. The trail climbs generally through oak and conifer forest and across the open meadows to the encampment at Laka Got. The last 200 - 300 mts is tiring to Lahesh Cave.

Day 6: Lahesh Cave- Indrahar Pass (4375 mts)-Chatru Parao (12 kms/6 -7 hrs)
Today continue your trek, at the higher elevations there is a steep 300 - 400 m ascent towards the crest of the Dhaula Dhar, before a 1 Km traverse just below the ridge to the Indrahar Pass. From the pass one can view Pir Panjal Range in the north and Mani Mahesh Kailash (5656 M) peak in the east. Descend from the pass to Chatru Parao.

Day 7: Chatru Parao-Kuarsi (2747 mts/9010 ft) 15 kms/ 6 - 7 hrs
Today morning, start trek with packed lunch, the trail follows the true left of the valley for the first few kms. Later the trek crosses the valley on a permanent snow bridge and ascends steeply to an open meadow. Continue down the true right of the valley and after crossing a series of meadows finally descends to Kurasi.

Day 8: Kuarsi-Machetar (5886 ft)-Chamba (16 kms/ 5 - 6 hrs)
Post breakfast, continue trek downhill with packed lunch. Today's trek continues into the valley and from the top mountain views of the whole region can be seen. Descend along the Barley fields to hit the road head to Machetar. From Machetar drive towards Chamba.
Dinner & overnight stay at Chamba.
Day 9: Chamba - Pathankot - Delhi
After breakfast drive towards Pathankot by car and later catch a train or continue your
drive on car towards Delhi.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 10: Delhi
Arrive in Delhi and later transfer to airport to catch your flight to onward destination.
