Ladakh Trekking Tour
Ladakh is the land of insurmountable mountains and fascinating monasteries. It offers adventurous trekking trips. It is located between two of the world's greatest mountain ranges, Himalayas and the Karakoram. The places of attraction here for the tourists are snow clad peaks, translucent lakes, barren terrain etc. The best season to go on trekking in Ladakh expeditions in this region is between July and September.
The main obstruction in the trekking at Ladakh is due to cold waves and snow. Thus, special clothing is required for trekking in this region. Pullovers and anorak should be kept handy, a pair of walking shoes with strong rubber or synthetic soles for grip, thick cotton socks, good sleeping bag, a waterproof tent, a good quality water cantor, flash light with sufficient batteries, a sun-hat, first-aid and a pair of good quality sunglasses are essential gear for going on a trek, and all should be back packed in a good quality rucksack.
Markha Valley trek over Gongmaru La and Gandha La is the most adventurous. Another trekking trail leads southwards from Alchi and after crossing Stapski La, turns around and reaches Nimu. Yet another trail towards north of Leh climbs over Khardung La and reaches the Nubra Valley.
1) Indus Valley Trekking
Through the Indus valley and the ancient kingdom of Sham, we will discover the main Ladakhi monasteries and the wonderful sites surrounding them: Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spitok, Phyang, Lamayuru and Alchi are all accessible by road, and Temisgang, Ridzong and Likir line the trekking route.
2) Manali Ladakh Trekking
Manali Ladakh is bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalayas, the Karakoram, the Ladakh range & the Zanskar range. It has beautiful wild flowers, a wide range of mountain animals, hundred of species of resident and migratory birds, and hospitable, hardy, cheerful and courteous people.
3) Markha Valley Trekking
Since 1974, when Ladakh first became accessible to foreign visitors, this high and arid region has captured the imagination of adventure travelers. This itinerary between Ladakh and Zanskar offers a large diversity of landscapes, from the jagged Kongmaru La pass (5000m) to the green oasis of the Markha valley with breath-taking views of the Korakoram snow-capped peaks.
4) Spiti To Ladakh Trekking
Trekking to the Himalayasacross high passes and vast tree-covered mountain sides one will come across the Spiti region of Himachal Pradesh. The old trade route to Ladakh and Tibet may have been tarmacked, but most of this remote and spectacular region is still only accessible on foot.
5) Wild Ladakh Trekking
A very interesting trek beginning at Lamayuru and walking up the less traveled Ripchar valley with its small villages, nomadic settlements and pastures where you see a wide variety of flowers from end of July to end of August and birds too. You cross some high passes with excellent views of the Karakoram and the Zanskar ranges.
6) Nubra Valley Trek
The Nubra is a tributary of the Shyok River which flows parallel to the Indus on the northern side of the Ladakh range. Because of its lower altitude the valley has a mild climate and is therefore richer in vegetation. It is often referred to as the "Orchard of Ladakh".
