Nanda Devi Trek Nanda Devi is one of the fascinating peaks of India. A classic trek that retraces the pioneering steps of Shipton and Tilman through the Garhwal Himalayas. The Nanda Devi basin must surely be one of the most legendary regions in the entire Himalayas chain. The mountain itself has attracted the attention of the pioneering mountaineers, explorers, and travelers who have visited this area.This trek takes us across the picturesque meadows and valleys that border the western edge of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary. During the trek there are many views of the surrounding peaks and the Kuari Pass (3658m) itself has an unrivalled panorama of the Great Himalayas peaks including Nanda Devi (7816m), Changabang (6864m), Dunagiri (7066m) and Kamet (7756m). Destination: Delhi-Haridwar-Rishikesh-Devprayag-Mundoli-Nanda Ghunti-Kanol-Nandakini valley-Nanda Devi-Kauri Pass-Tapovan-Devprayag-Haridwar-Delhi Duration: 16 nights/17 days Day 1: Delhi On arrival at Delhi, later transfer to the hotel. Overnight in hotel. Day 2: Delhi-Haridwar-Rishikesh Early morning drive to Haridwar, holy town on the banks of river Ganges. Later visit Rishikesh. Overnight in hotel. Day 3: Rishikesh-Devprayag Early morning drive towards Devprayag, a place where Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet. Overnight camp. Day 4: Devprayag-Mundoli Move on your journey to the hearts of the Garhwal foothills, past Rudraprayag and onwards up to the Pindar valley. Overnight camp at Mundoli. Day 5: Mundoli Early morning start your trek through Rhododendron forest, hand tilled fields, and small villages. Overnight camp. Day 6: Mundoli-Nanda Ghunti Toady take on a long climb to the magnificient bugyal or grazing meadow of Bedni. Also view the Trisul (7120m) and Nanda Ghunti (6390m). A tough day of steep ascent and descent. Overnight camp. ![]() Day 7: Nanda Ghunti-Kanol Toady continues your trek through Rolling Meadows that gives the most wonderful display of color in spring. This trail is good and scenery magnificient. Camp at village Kanol. Day 8: Kanol Early morning move on to long decent to the Nandakini river. A welcome paddle in the clear water to sooth our feet whilst the porters. A long half day. Overnight camp. Day 9: Kanol-Nandakini Valley Today start your day by trekking up and out of the Nandakini valley, a tough but rewarding climb along good trails. Birds of prey such as Lammergeyer, Golden Eagle and Himalayan Griffon are common in this area. The day's efforts are well worth it as we camp in peaceful and wonderfully flat meadow for the night.
