Pin Parvati Trek The Pin Parvati valley of Spiti is considered the most beautiful in the region. The trek route crossing over from the Kullu valley takes you through most spectacular landscapes, and provides an experience to remember for life. The trek begins at Manikaran and winds along the raging Parvati River till the glaciated Pin-Parvati Pass (4900m). After crossing the pass the trail winds along the Pin river which is a tributary of the Spiti river. There is a dramatic variation in the scenery and also culture on crossing into Buddhist land of Spiti. Destination: Delhi-Nalagarh-Manikaran- Pulga Village-Khir Ganga- Tundah Bhuj-Thakur Kuan- Mantalai Lake-High Camp-Pin Parvati Pass-Pin valley-Mud-Sangam-Kaza-Manali-Nalagarh-Delhi Duration: 16 nights/17 days Day 1: Delhi Arrive Delhi and later transfer to the hotel. Overnight in hotel. Day 2: Delhi-Nalagarh After breakfast, drive towards Nalagarh. Visit Nalagarh Fort-gateway of Himachal Pradesh. Overnight stay in Nalagarh. Day 3: Nalagarh-Manikaran Morning drive to Manikaran. It is a trailhead for numerous treks as well as a great countryside ideal for adventure sport lovers. Later transfer to the hotel. Overnight in hotel. Day 4: Manikaran Day at leisure to relax and explore the surroundings. Overnight at Hotel. Day 5: Manikaran - Pulga Village (2,791 m) Trek along the River Parvati to reach Pulga- a small settlement of the 'Gaddi' shepherds. Overnight in tents. Day 6: Pulga Village - Khir Ganga (3,050 m) The trek through the forest to Khir Ganga is a pleasant walk except for one short steep climb in between. Khir Ganga is a holy place with a hot water spring, small temple of Lord Shiva and a bathing tank. This is the last chance to take a hot water bath on the trek. Overnight in tents. Day 7: Khir Ganga - Tundah Bhuj (3, 205 m) Steady ascend to the gorge. Valley then widens and trail crosses several beautiful pastures supporting many types of wild flowers. There are some Gujjar/Gaddi shepherd encampments and this will be last human settlement you will be watching. Overnight in tents. Day 08: Tundah Bhuj - Thakur Kuan (3, 400 m) Crossing through rocks and dense vegetation. The trail is steep and hard in some sections close to Thakur Kuan. Overnight in tents. Day 09: Thakur Kuan - Mantalai Lake (4, 074 m) First you will cross a natural bridge known as Pandu Bridge. After that trail makes some ups and downs and then goes through flowered meadows. Overnight in tents. Day 10: Mantalai Lake- High Camp (4, 500 m) The trekking is challenging, over a glacier and loose scree slopes. There is a beautiful grassy camp at the base of the Pass. Overnight in tents. Day 11: High Camp-Pin Parvati Pass (4900 m) - Pin Valley (4700 m) The approach to the Pass is over a crevassed snowfield and all precaution is necessary on this section. After the pass descend over a steep slope to reach the first camp site in the Pin Valley. Overnight in tents. |
